Terminology, units of measure
There are a few ways of measure:
Hektars – this is roughly 10,000 square meters (m2)
Acres – An acre is equivalent to 4046 m2
Meter / square feet: 1 meter = 3 feet 3.37 inches
Square feet / meter: 1 square foot = .305 meter
Mile / Kilometer: 1 mile = 1,609 kilometers
Kilometer / mile: 1 kilometer = .621 miles
Katastar – cadaster this word means “land plot” or parcel
K.O. – Kadastarska Općina – the municipality (općina) where the cadaster is located.
Građevinska dozvola – Permission to build
Uporabna dozvola – Permission to fix, remodel or modify.
Građevinski projekt – Building project – you will need to pay an architect for this before you can get started.
Prostorni Plan – Spacial plan for a city, village or any other land – it has building, agricultural, and green zones (i.e. 200 m from the sea) and protected areas due to vegetation, natural resources and more. Within this framework, building laws exist and projects are designed to satisfy the overall scheme.

Good evening – Dobra večer (dough-bruh VET-cher) from 5 pm onwards
Good night (sleep) Laku noć (Lah-koo Noetsche) – when you are in your pajamas
Time – Croatia follows the 24-hour time (military time)
Midnight: 00:00
Noon: 12:00 and every hour following noon increased by 1.
